The thing about quitting smoking is that you can do it again and again. Like Mark Twain said "To cease smoking is the easiest thing. I ought to know. I've done it a thousand times." But to quit smoking forever is the hardest thing to do. Have you ever stopped and thought about what is the difference between "quit smoking" and "quit smoking forever".
The difference is huge. I and almost all of my smoker friends and acquaintance have tried to stop smoking at least 10 times in our lives. But, as of this date there are only three amongst us who have been able to quit forever.
Let's make a small statistic from this small data. I know approximately 150 people who smoke. Out of them 100 people I know for sure who have tried to give up smoking. Only 2 have succeeded.
That makes only 2% of people who stop smoking are actually able to stop it forever. Now, this isn't any hard fact. It's just the statistics from the people I know. It might be different for someone else. In fact, these statistics might change if some of those 100 people are actually able to quit forever in the future.
So what is the difference between those who do quit smoking forever and those who are still struggling with their temptations?
1. The first thing will be the desire to do so. Unless you want to quit smoking forever, you won't be able to do it.
2. Determination. Unless you are 100% determined that you want to quit, you are most likely to fail. If you say you are going to try, you are going to fail. If you say you will do your best, you are going to fail. Unless, you are going to say that you WILL quit smoking, you will not succeed.
The words that you use to approach your goal make up your mindset and play a major role in your success or failure.
3. Aids: Smoking aids are available at various shops and websites. But, if you rely on these aids to help you stop smoking, then you are in for a surprise. Smoking aids are good only if you satisfy the above two points. You should understand that they are "AIDS" and only can assist you in quitting. You are the one who will have to do the major portion of the work.
If you want to quit smoking forever, then I suggest you follow the above three points. It is not difficult to do it, what is difficult though, is to make up your mind. Once you do make up your mind, 90% of the battle is won.
