There are a lot of reasons as to why you should quit smoking. Cigarettes are not good for you at all, and here are some facts to prove that today would be a perfect day to quit!

1. Cigarettes are bad for you. Over time, they are shown to dramatically increase the risk of lung cancer and heart disease, and they also coat the inside of your lungs with tar, which is disgusting. All in all, cigarettes will take their toll on your body, and will cause you to live a less healthy life.

2. Cigarettes make your breath smell bad. And no, you cannot hide the smell with mouthwash, toothpaste, or even gum. The breath of a smoker is not pleasant, no matter how much they try to cover it up. Just think of the people who have to work closely with you all day… not to mention the people you kiss!

3. Cigarettes cause everything you wear and own to smell like smoke. It does not take long for a home to start to smell like smoke, and even if your home smells fresh to you, it will smell like smoke to everyone else, as will your clothes, your car, and everything else of yours. How would you like it if your sister would refuse to bring her children over because she doesn’t want the smell of smoke to make them sick?

4. Smoking is a very expensive habit. With the money you spend smoking, you could easily do so much more. You could go out to eat more often… go on dates more often… see movies, go to ballgames, do anything you wanted! Why would you choose such a nasty habit over all of these fun things?

5. And finally, you should quit smoking because if you don’t, the young people in your life (especially your kids if you have any) will be much more likely to smoke if they spend a lot of time around you. Oh, and sorry, this “do as I say, not as I do” philosophy only works on stupid people… your children don’t count. Odds are very good that they will think to themselves “well, my parents do it, so why shouldn’t I?” right before lighting up for the first time. Do you want them to get addicted to cigarettes?
